*Hon. Esiovwa

Hon. Chief Isaiah O. Esiovwa, Executive Chairman of Okpe Local Government Area in Delta State, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his remarkable achievements in infrastructure development and primary healthcare programmes.

Speaking at the National Stakeholder Engagement on Accelerated Improvement in Primary Health Care in Nigeria, organized by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Unicef in Abuja yesterday, Esiovwa expressed optimism in Oborevwori’s administration, citing his commitment to making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all Deltans.

Esiovwa noted that the Governor has aligned his programmes to meet the needs of the people, particularly in healthcare.

He drew parallels with the Federal Minister of Health’s call for stronger collaboration among government tiers to enhance primary healthcare delivery.

The Chairman praised Oborevwori’s “MORE Agenda,” which according to him prioritizes meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security. Quality healthcare which he stated remains a pivotal pillar of this agenda.

Hon. Esiovwa also acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in establishing institutions like the College of Health Technology and the College of Health Sciences, which focus on producing healthcare professionals equipped to address local and global health challenges. Under Oborevwori’s administration, Delta State has made significant progress in combating diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, and non-communicable diseases through awareness campaigns, free testing, and treatment programs.

The Governor’s dedication to revamping the healthcare sector in his view has earned recognition, particularly with the renovation of over 150 primary healthcare centers. His leadership direction has led to the launching of health education programmes, promoting healthy lifestyles and early disease detection. The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has also been working to strengthen primary healthcare delivery through various initiatives, including the revitalization of primary healthcare facilities and the promotion of community engagement and participation.

Hon. Esiovwa concluded by emphasizing the importance of community outreach programmes and health care delivery system, which bring free health services and information directly to the good people of the state and other residents.
