In a major operational success aimed at protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested 13 persons suspected to be involved in cable vandalism, armed robbery, car theft and human trafficking.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, disclosed this during a press parade at the Corps’ National Headquarters, Abuja, and at a crime scene in Yangoji, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
Afolabi stated that the arrests were executed by operatives of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, CG’s SIS, following credible intelligence.
He explained that the coordinated operations spanned seven locations, including the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger and Kaduna States.
Among those arrested is one Isaac Zegbe, 25, a former staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, whose arrest is considered a significant breakthrough in the fight against power infrastructure vandalism.
The Corps reiterated its commitment to eradicating all forms of criminality threatening national assets and public safety, adding that further investigations are ongoing.
